The answer is that if they survive. Goldfish have a kind of antifreeze that allows them to stay alive in freezing waters. We all know that the winters can be so cold that the water freezes. Apparently the water between the gills frozen and protects the fish until the water is heated. That's why in partially frozen water or low temperature fish swim programs are not as rapid and quick ...
